SESA College Playing Pathway

As SESA has grown, so has our ability to provid continued playing opportunity to our players. With the ability to hire more professional coaching and develop our player curriculim, SESA has been able to develop players capable of competing at the college level. In 2010 SESA had just 1 player at the college level. In the fall 2020 season, SESA will have more than 25 players currently on a college roster, and nearly 40 total players at the college level. The college pathway has become one of the unique programs that sets SESA apart from other regional clubs. There are 3 main components of the college player pathway.

The first component is through the High School Select Program. As part of our program high school plaeyrs are exposed to high level of club play and recruiting exposure. Players are also give the oportuity to learn more about and pursue other recruiting and college prep options. Players who come through our select program are all developed to be competitive at the collegiate level.

The second is the Union program. The Union is a joint effort by local clubs to allow upper level and college bound players a program similar to ODP where they can train with other top players. SESA works with local men's and women's college coaches who run sessions and provide resources for parents and players. The program is available to all players u13+, regardless of club affiliation. Players are also invited to attend a premiere showcase tournament and recieve additional recruiting and college prep resources.

The third, and highest level of play in the area, is the SESA Under 23 Select Program. The u23 program is designed for our local players in college and the college bound high school players in the area. For many college players, returning home during the summer and winter is a struggle to maintain the level of play they had been training at with their college team, let alone actually make improvemnts. In 2017 the SESA ADOC started the u23 program so that the growing number of local college players would have a program to play with while home from college. The program trains multiple times each week, and is coached by current college coach and former college players who know exactly what it takes to play at the college level. The program also plays weekly in the 11v11 league, there are seperate men's and women's teams. The teams will also be attending the Iowa Adult Soccer Championship Series. The u23 is open to all high school players going into 9th grade, and all college age players and recent college players.
