Welcome to SESA

Welcome to SESA

Welcome to the Southeast Soccer Academy (SESA). SESA is a non-profit soccer organization that provides year-round playing opportunities for youth and adults in the Southeast Iowa, Western Illinois, and Northern Missouri area. We have 5 core areas of SESA programs.

The first is the SESA Academy/Select programs. These are our competitive travel programs. For ages u9-u19 (with a junior academy u9 non-travel program), these teams play in seasonal fall or spring state sanctioned leagues and attend tournaments. All teams receive Professional training sessions each week with one of our staff coaches, with regular practices and games coached by the specific team head coach. All programs follow a curriculum guideline and team coaches work closely with the Director of Coaching and Assistant Director of Coaching. Academy/Select players go through a teaming process where their developmental Appropriateness and biological age are considered to determine with what team they best fit to have the best experience and progress in their development. The goal of the Select program is to develop players to be the top players at the high school level and able to continue onto the college level if desired. The top players and teams in Southeast Iowa are all SESA players. SESA has developed more than 50 players who have gone on to play at the college and/or semi-professional level.

The second area of SESA is our recreational and competitive youth and adult programs. We offer various programs throughout the year. Our youth rec league is partnered with the Burlington YMCA and has separate fall and spring season. All games are played at the Burlington RecPlex Complex.

Our summer programs are: adult/high school 11v11 league, adult/ high school 7v7 league, and youth 7v7 league.

Fall programs: youth rec league, and a fall/ high school 7v7 league.

Winter programs utilize the FunCity indoor turf facilities soccer specific fields: winter street soccer (pick-up style) for youth and adult, 7v7 youth and adult league, and a pending futsal program.

Spring programs: youth rec league

The third area is out locally hosted tournaments. SESA holds 3 tournaments each year. Our fall Monster Match tournament in October, winter Turf Wars 4v4 tournament in February, and spring Mississippi Cup in May. Our tournaments use the RecPlex, FunCity Turf, SESA training grounds, and other local turf and grass fields to host games.

New for 2022 SESA will be hosting a Summer 7v7 Tournament in July.

The fourth major area is our College playing pathway. SESA has a designated under 23 program specific for our local college players and college bound high school players. With more players graduating from our academy and playing at the next level, we developed a college specific program. The u23 has separate men and women's teams that train weekly with our Director of Coaching and former college coach, play in the summer 11v11 league, and the first teams will be competing in exhibition games. The u23 receive additional college recruiting resources.

In addition to the U23, SESA also offers the Union Program. The Union is a coordinated program open to any u13+ players regardless of club affiliation. Players receive multiple sessions run by area college coaches of both men's and women's teams. Select players are also invited to be on the roster to play in a designated showcase tournament. The Union program is supplementary to regular club play and compatible with the U23 program. The Union program cooperates with a number of other area clubs to provide an additional high level program for all players in the area.

The fifth area is our community outreach and involvement. With players from up to an hour away, representing over a dozen school districts, our connection to the communities is vital for our success and the success of soccer in the area. We developed our Passion For Soccer Project to specifically address the needs of our players, families, and communities. The PFSP is used to raise funds to support our players on scholarship, to provide educational materials and programs in local schools, and long-term goals of creating "soccer spots" to help drive a passion for soccer in our communities. Part of the community outreach is also in forging partnerships and sponsorships for all of our teams and programs. By partnering with local businesses and organizations, we are able to effectively keep our operating costs as low as possible and in turn keep high quality soccer programs and facilities as accessible as possible, regardless of financials.

SESA also offers additional resources for referees, coaches, parents, players, and the community.
